St. John’s Funeral Policies, Procedures, and Facility Fees
Funerals are scheduled by funeral homes and families directly with and at the discretion of the Rector. Services can be conducted at the church, in a funeral home, or at the graveside. To schedule a funeral, please call the church office at 860-872-0517 or the Rector directly. St. John’s does funeral services for members and non-members.
The suggested facility use contribution is $250 for a service in the sanctuary followed by a graveside service. This suggested donation is for the use of the facility (heat, light, etc.). There is no fee for the priest’s services.
If the church is used, there is a $75 fee for the sexton.
If music is desired, there is a $225 fee for the organist/pianist.
Death is nothing at all by itself. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me – let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without affect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind just because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.
