This Memorial commemorates the lives of the homeless members of our community who died. Participants will join community groups, service providers, and individuals in cities across the United States holding their own services today. This service of music and memories is held on December 21st, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, from 5-6 pm. Our goal is to memorialize the lives of those who have died on our streets or in our shelters from conditions directly related to their homelessness. In many cases, this service will be the only commemoration of their lives. We hope to bring attention to the need for more resources to provide affordable housing, emergency shelter, and medical care for our most vulnerable citizens. Both the service and a reception of coffee, cocoa cookies, etc., will be held at Union Church in the Oasis. 3 Elm Street, Rockville (directly across from the green.)
